At Chomp Shopper, we believe in transparency and your fundamental right to privacy. This comprehensive policy explains how we handle your information when you use our recipe aggregation and shopping list service, including what data we collect during recipe parsing, how we protect your meal planning preferences, and what rights you have as our user. We are committed to protecting your personal data and being completely transparent about our data practices. Unlike many cooking and meal planning apps that collect extensive personal information, we follow a privacy-first approach, collecting only the minimum data necessary to provide our recipe parsing and shopping list generation services. Your recipe choices, dietary preferences, and shopping habits remain private and are never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

What we show publicly
Our Supported sites page lists the recipe sites people read most. Under a site, "See the recipes" shows up to 10 of its most-read recipes, each with its title and a link to the original recipe page.
The rules we follow
- A recipe link is shown only after at least 2 different signed-in people have read it. Guest reads don't count.
- We never show who read a recipe, when, how many times, or what else they cooked.
- We only show public recipe pages. Tracking codes are removed from links, and we never show links with other personal parts, links to personal files or documents (like Google Docs or Dropbox), or recipes you typed in or added from a photo or file.
- A site's list appears only once it has at least 3 recipes that meet these rules.
Removing a recipe
Deleting a recipe from your account, or deleting your account, removes your read from these lists. The lists update within about 10 minutes. To ask us to take a recipe link down, email privacy@chompshopper.com.
How we protect your data

Data retention
Recipe and shopping list data is stored securely and temporarily for your session and account access. For registered users, favorite recipes and shopping lists are stored indefinitely to provide seamless access across devices and sessions. Email addresses used for sending lists are processed in real-time and not permanently stored unless you create an account. All user data is encrypted both in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols. Support communications are retained for up to 2 years to assist with ongoing issues and provide better customer service. We regularly audit our data retention practices to ensure we only keep information necessary for service operation.
